Controversial Jack

Just a little bagatelle about Jack, a man who is controversially insane. He is entirely unable to tell fantasy from reality and his best friend is a small plastic duck. He does, however, have the wondrous ability to throw any crowd into a chaos of violent disagreement and conflicting ideas, an ability he uses with all the restraint and subtlety of... well, of Controversial Jack. This, as you can no doubt imagine, has led to any number of wacky situations and hilarious plot twists over the course of this popular, long-running Impro.

Nothing like that happens in my first part, unfortunately, but I think I managed to acquit myself with my second. See, recently it came time for Jack to end its run, so Stefan Gagne (aka Twoflower) wrote a spiffy ending chapter and recruited a bunch of artists to draw it. A few forged documents later, and I was in! I did the bit in the middle, where (due to Jack's carelessly triggering the end of the world) all the supporting characters die -- that's GOTTA be at least, y'know, moderately controversial. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and the ending as a whole came out very nice.

Oh, I might as well look at the various gags here. Tirebiter Asylum (The Loony Bin That Loves You Back) on page 71 is named after George Tirebiter, a frequent character in Firesign Theater sketches. Also, Miss Jane is humming "How Can You Be In Two Places At Once, When You Aren't Anywhere At All" from their album of the same name. If you're wondering what's with that "I'm his fiancee" line, it's 'cos Miss Jane is actually a transvestite, see, and I was setting things up for a gag which ultimately I didn't have time to put in. See? She -- er, he -- is a TRANSVESTITE! And he says he's Jack's FIANCEE! C'mon, LAUGH! IT'S FUNNY!!

One more thing to check out is "Controversial Jack and the Fall of Western Civilization" over at Stefan Gagne's ImproFanfic. I did this chapter. It's not bad. I'm gonna get murdered for saying this, but it's a lot easier to write these things than to draw them...
