Bot

It's the mighty future year of 2005! And the World Wide Web has been supplanted by 3dix, a neurally operated virtual reality environment. However, the 3dix network is ultimately just as gaudy, overcommercialized, and useless as the WWW is now, and that's where Bot begins: following the journey of an ordinary AI "bot" who discovers she's something very special indeed. Incidentally, this is the only Impro that traditionally appears in full color. I did the colors on 130-133, and pages 157-159 were colored by Bryan O'Malley and originally written by Stefan Gagne.

Uhhh... what should I say? It looks good (I'm extremely pleased with the GeoCities "Tokyo/Towers" environment, and think it would be really cool to see it used in an actiony way in a future part), and it more or less works in isolation. I fear I may have damaged Bot's formerly impregnable storyline, though, by making the story's most adorable and harmless character into a badass villain. Well, we'll see... Anyway, once again skyscraper images come from the excellent New York City Skyscrapers home page, and the image on page 130's flying billboard (itself on loan from No Headroom) is from Robert DeJesus's spin on Controversial Jack.

Please don't ask what the deal is with Bonnechance's dominatrix boots. Perhaps it's a surface manifestation of a deep down desire I have to be punished for my clumsy dialogue, awkward plot construction and that weird way I draw hands.
