hey, kids! comics!

This contains all the comics on this site that aren't big projects in and of themselves: one-shot parodies, odd little penciled things, and so forth.

I'm fond of Halo, so here's Master Chief and Cortana. If you need a setting, this takes place in the "Halo" level in the bit where you drive the Warthog into the underground bridge area, and it takes a half hour of driving around in circles in the dark before you realize you have to jump over that ramp thingy.

In my defense I will say that this ridiculous little comic depending on an incredibly obscure scene in Final Fantasy X-2 took me only an hour or so to draw. Y'know, if I had my own comic, this would be one of the strips, and so would the Dynasty Warriors 4, Morrowind, and Diablo 2 gags below. Basically, it would be silly one-shot parodies of obscure parts of various video games. Er... just like VG Cats, I guess.

But look. The idea of an Accountant dressphere is just inherently funny. I stand by that.

Who doesn't love Dynasty Warriors 4? Only weirdos and subversives, of course!

Just two weird little things I drew. First, my good pal Joe Barnes and I found ourselves imagining a little scenario the other day I like to call "This Never Happens." And second, a squib that popped into my head while playing Morrowind and which will make no sense to anyone else who hasn't played it, which I'm pleased to refer to by the name "That's Our Vivec!" Okay, I'm done.

So recently I felt like I needed some distraction. You can probably understand. By happy coincidence, I'd just picked up the last DVD of Star Blazers from the local overpriced mall video store, and as I revived my spirits with that wonderfully cheesy and nostalgic space opera I love so much I doodled this little one-page comic. It actually came out startlingly well, but then Leiji Matsumoto's characters and spaceships were probably the very first anime-related things I ever drew. Indeed, I was drawing them long before I knew there was such a thing as anime -- I recall doodling pictures of the Argo/Yamato on my summer vacation back during grade school. Hey, it's just like falling off a bicycle, you never forget how.

I did this silly little three page Diablo II ripoff/dojin/whatever in order to test out some new coloring techniques, including the Eliminate White plugin for Photoshop. It didn't come out half bad, although I had a bit of a hard time keeping a consistent style going. As far as the actual comic goes, there's not much to it, really; it just plays off me and my coworkers' disillusionment with Diablo II, and the glee we took in making fun of it. (Of course, that doesn't mean we didn't play it obsessively for months on end. Man, we're a sorry bunch.)

Two little bagatelles about an evil sorceress and her reluctant assistant. Partially done as an experiment to try out my new sketching pencils -- thus B looks markedly better than A. There may be more of this in the future sometime if the mood strikes me.

A short and very stupid comic I did to practice hand shading. Mostly what I learned is that it's a good way to go through lots of pens very quickly.

This is a two-page dojinshi I did long ago for the now largely defunct Monthly Animefan Alternative. It featured Final Fantasy VII Advertising: your fave FF7 characters plugging various products. Here, the Turks (those lovable scamps) endorse Shinra Corporation's latest outrage, Mako Cup.
